Vic Gabriel is a Learning and Development Specialist at the Health Plan of San Mateo, where health and education have always been the cornerstones of his career. With a background in Public Health focused on Health Services Administration, Vic’s path has been driven by a passion for helping others and a commitment to lifelong learning. Over the years, Vic has built a wealth of experience in diverse roles throughout San Francisco and San Mateo counties. Beginning as an intern with the Asian Week Foundation, Vic reached out to clinicians and raised awareness about Hepatitis B in Asian and Pacific Islander communities. From there, Vic stepped into healthcare at California Pacific Medical Center, coordinating hospital work orders across four campuses as a Call Center dispatcher.

Vic’s journey continued with the San Francisco Department of Public Health, where he assisted in implementing a new electronic medical record system. In this role, Vic taught nurses, medical assistants, and providers how to adapt the new system to their daily routines—developing curriculum, leading training sessions, and shadowing staff to understand and develop workflows. Today, Vic brings his customer service and educational design skills to Health Plan of San Mateo, supporting departments by developing e-learning courses and managing the organization’s learning management system as one passion focus.

Outside of work, Vic enjoys gardening and nurturing his young fruit trees at home in Roseville, CA, hoping that one day their efforts will yield a plentiful harvest for years to come.
