Mais holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Al-Hussein Bin Talal University. Despite her youthfulness – she has only been in this industry for a few short years – she has accomplished a great deal, taking on a variety of tasks and responsibilities and working hard. Mais is especially proud of being chosen as the Executive Director of the New Umm Al-Rasas Municipality in 2018.

Over the years, Mais has attended numerous training courses, including Prokon, Quantity Surveyor Engineering, AutoCAD, and Training of Trainers (TOT). She has been working as a trainer since 2020 and was responsible for the implementation of multiple pieces, including communication and strategic planning. As well, Mais developed training material related to community participation (an introduction program to municipal work for mayors).

Mais is keen to learn: to educate herself about the laws and regulations that govern municipal work; and, to seek information on a range of topics. All this helped her become CEO in a short among of time. She believes her success came from her family’s support, especially her father, who supported her every step of the way.

Mais’s advice to young women who are still at the beginning of their careers is this:

Dream big and go for it. It doesn’t matter how hard it is or how many times you fail – just go for it. Your purpose will get you to stand up and start again, and your drive will keep propelling you forward so you can achieve great things.
