Emilie Hayes is the Lead for Sustainable Affordable Housing (SAH) at the Green Municipal Fund (GMF), a program of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. In this role, Emilie provides guidance and strategic direction to the SAH program with the aim to facilitate the construction and retrofitting of energy-efficient affordable housing. Emilie also served as the Capacity Development Advisor for SAH, designing and developing capacity building tools, training and workshops, communities of practice and awareness raising programming for the affordable housing sector to undertake energy efficiency projects. Prior to joining FCM, Emilie worked for over 20 years in the nonprofit sector with a focus on community health, poverty reduction, and affordable housing. She also serves as a Board member for the Ottawa Community Land Trust which works with the community to preserve and increase affordable housing in Canada’s national capital region.
