Ashraf Tawaha is a consultant in municipal affairs, with a professional experience in both municipal and private sectors (ten years in each sector). Currently he is helping many municipalities to develop their strategic and operational plans and building their capacities by empowering staff to handle best practices in their fields.

Ashraf studied Architecture at Jordan University of Science & Technology and worked in engineering consultations and construction locally and internationally. He also worked in two municipalities: Greater Irbid & Al Wasatiyyah in Jordan, at different times in multiple positions with the last of them being Executive Director for Al Wasatiyya Municipality for more than five years. Ashraf also served as a member of Irbid Executive Council from 2017 up to the end of 2021, as a representative for the municipal sector. In addition to his responsibilities as an Executive Director, he has been a trainer at Institute of Local Administration (ILA) for the last four years, where he trained many municipal executive directors and employees. These trainings took place across Jordan on topics such as: strategic and operational planning principles, good working relationships, and governance principles. Training has been his passion since he volunteered with ILA.

As a result for his efforts, the proven results of reform actions, and adopting best practices to develop municipal work, on December 8, 2021 Ashraf was awarded the SEAL OF EXCELLENCE for municipalities executive directors category from KACE, King Abdullah II Center For Excellence.
