Cheryl Bain is a Master Trainer and Facilitator with the U-First! program, working in partnership with the Alzheimer Society of B.C. With over 26 years of experience as a Recreation Therapist and educator, Cheryl has dedicated her career to supporting older adults living with dementia and empowering health care providers to deliver compassionate, person-centered care. Her work is driven by a deep commitment to advocacy—ensuring the voices of individuals living with dementia and their families are heard, respected, and free from stereotypes and stigma.
Cheryl’s workshops go beyond teaching; they create meaningful learning experiences that transform care practices. Using a learning-centered approach, she designs interactive sessions that foster dialogue, collaboration, and practical skill-building. Through programs like U-First!, Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA), and Recreation Therapy education, Cheryl delivers workshops that help health care providers build confidence, strengthen empathy, and apply practical strategies leading to more positive, respectful interactions with people living with dementia.
