FOUNDATIONS OF DIALOGUE EDUCATION

Why take this course?
Many individuals and organizations embrace the philosophy that learning should be practical and engaging, but few can put that philosophy into practice consistently. This course will change all that.   • demonstrated ways to teach holistically using three learning domains
  • crafted achievement-based objectives based on what your learners will DO with the content you teach
  • used the 8 steps of design to create a session for your real work situation
  • demonstrated and assessed your skills for facilitating dialogue in a short session and planned for your continued skill development.

  • Length: This course can run for four (4) consecutive days or be broken up with practice time in between.

SURE-FIRE MEETINGS

Why take this course?
Individuals and workplaces invest huge amounts of time, energy and resources in meetings. After taking this course, you’ll find that meetings become far more efficient, meaningful, and energizing. You’ll be more confident in how you plan and facilitate either in-person or virtual meetings. You’ll have a more acute sense of who to invite to a meeting, how to keep meetings on track, and how to balance structure with flexibility.

 

What will you learn?
Throughout this course, you will explore a variety of practical tools and apply them to an upcoming meeting in your work. Here is a sample of what you will have achieved by the end of the course:

  • clarified and written meeting achievements
  • compared different participatory decision-making models
  • explored ways to advance a meeting before it begins
  • explored making meetings S.U.R.E. (Safe, Useful, Respectful & Engaging)

INTENTIONAL DESIGN (NEW!)

Why take this course?
Strong facilitators need strong learning designs, and strong learning designs needs strong facilitators. This course focuses on the design part of that equation. You will learn how to develop a learning event that honors adult learning principles and seamlessly weaves content with process.

 

What will you learn?
This is an engaging and highly personalized course, with ongoing invitations to test, try and practice the new content being learned. Here is a sample of what you will have achieved by the end of the course:

  • used the Principles to Practices framework to think through your own work situation and the four phases of a learning program
  • distinguished between a learning-centered and teaching-centered approach
  • used tools and models to ensure an intentional focus on learners and their needs
  • used the 4A model in writing learning tasks to maximize learning
  • designed a short learning session on a topic related to your work using the principles and practices of a learning-centered approach as well as the 8 steps of design.

 

What else do you need to know?

  • Length: This course runs for two full days. The days are interactive and full of practical applications so that you will be getting your work done as you take the course!
  • Pre-requisite: None.

 

ART OF FACILITATION

Why take this course?

This is a safe place for less experienced facilitators to experiment with new, proven approaches to effective facilitation. It is also a place for more seasoned facilitators to get honest, appreciative feedback and refine their facilitation skills.

 

What will you learn?

This is an engaging and highly personalized course, with ongoing invitations to test, try and practice the new content being learned. Here is a sample of what you will have achieved by the end of the course:

  • analyzed, practiced and assessed principles of adult learning in facilitating events
  • role-played how to facilitate a variety of facilitation skills and received feedback
  • used 8 steps of design to adapt an existing learning design 
  • practiced using purposeful energizers to change and monitor learners’ energy
  • named the exact uses of a variety of visuals as learning aids.

  • Length: This course runs for two, full days. The days are interactive and full of practical applications so that you will be getting your work done as you take the course!
