OUR FRAMEWORK

Our Framework

Our Principles to Practice Framework maps out four interdependent stages of a complete learning initiative. As the graphic suggests, learning principles are at the core of the process, and inform how work is done at each stage. GLP teams with organizations to strengthen one or more of these stages. This framework helps ensure that learning resources are put to best use.

Over the years, GLP has refined a set of practices and tools that effectively support learning that lasts. We’ve named this system Dialogue Education ™. Below are a few insights into each part of the system, with links to helpful tools.

Dialogue Education Principles

Core Principles

We teach partners about proven adult learning principles and decide together how these core principles affect decisions throughout a project.

Learning Assessment

Learning Assessment

Strong assessments discover what learners most want and need from a learning experience. We ask, study and observe with genuine curiosity. We search for the heart of the problems people face, as well as the strengths on which to build.

Learning Design

Learning Design

If one word could describe our approach to design, it would be intentional. We build learning designs from the bottom up, beginning with critical steps that help ground a design in the people and their unique context.

Learning Facilitation

Learning Facilitation

Being a skilled facilitator is an art that draws on intuition and being fully “present” with the people you are with – whether in person or online. An effective facilitator is responsive to the individual learners, while keeping an eye on what is best for collective learning.

Learning Evaluation

Learning Evaluation

Learning evaluation starts early in the design process by reflecting on a few key questions. For example: If all goes well, what will be created or changed as a result of this learning initiative? We encourage evaluation at three levels: learning, transfer, and impact.
