Starting and Ending the Day Together
I’ll never forget how it felt walking into the training room 20+ years ago to take my first course with Jane Vella. I walked straight into a circle of rocking chairs – yup, you heard me, a circle of rocking chairs. Like all public courses at that time Jane taught in North Carolina, tucked away in a wooded area surrounded by birds, trees, and paths begging to be walked. It was lovely. But, starting and ending each day rocking together with strangers while being in personal and profound dialogue will be part of me always. I learned the importance of starting and ending together, how a circle equalizes and connects, and what it means to respect and truly see each other for our inextricable worth.
