Fariya has been working in the tax justice and governance field for almost 15 years. Most recently she was at the International Budget Partnership where she helped build and provide strategic leadership to their Tax Equity Initiative. As part of the in-house cohort of CDEPs and CDETs, she also played a role in shaping curricula, designing staff and partner learning events, and providing facilitation support across the organisation. Prior to joining IBP, Fariya helped Tax Justice Network build a human rights, feminist, and gender equality focused network of tax activists and researchers. Fariya has also worked with Greenpeace International, ActionAid International, the International Centre for Tax and Development, the World Bank Group, the Ford Foundation, and Open Society Foundation across topics such as wealth taxation and the green transition, gender and economic justice, and political accountability within tax systems. She holds both a Bachelor’s of Arts (Economic and International Relations) and a Master’s of Global Affairs from the University of Toronto.
