Thanks for Good Gifts

This is the week of Thanksgiving in the US, and brings me to grateful thoughts and feelings. The Greek word eu means good. The Greek word charis means gift. Good gift…Eu-charis…or as the Greeks say: Thanks! This poem by Denise Levertov shows how everything can be seen as gift: THE AVOWAL As swimmers dare to lie face to the sky and water bears them as hawks rest upon air and air sustains them; so would I learn to attain freefall, and float into Creator Spirit’s deep embrace knowing no effort earns that all-surrounding grace. Whose avowal to whom? To whom do we say “Thanks!” HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
