Training Consultant, Child Welfare Training Partnership, University of Vermont

I have been working for the University of Vermont Child Welfare Training Partnership for 61/2 years. As a Training Consultant, I provide training on child protection work and youth justice for DCF-FSD staff. My role encompasses designing and developing curriculum, as well as facilitating discussions, presenting information and evaluating trainings. The trainings we do range from large formal classroom trainings to on site targeted trainings to district staff and teams within the 12 district offices, Woodside and Central Office.

Prior to my current position,   I worked with Easter Seals for 10 years in the Burlington DCF office.  As a case manager and supervisor, I provided direct service to families whose children were in custody and coordinated four programs that provided services to families and their children. Preceding my work in Vermont, I worked as a case manager, supervisor and Acting Director at the Kingston Ontario Alcohol Referral Center and as a case manager at the Brockville Psychiatric Hospital in Canada.  I received my MSW, at the University of Wilfrid Laurier in Waterloo, Ontario.

I so enjoy working and engaging with families and others with the aim of keeping children and youth safe. I love providing information, coaching and helping people reach their goal of doing their best and being the best they can be.

SURE Fire Meetings and the philosophy and principles behind them provide a way to have people fully engaged and committed to the task at hand. People’s time is valuable and the need to be a part of something useful is important. I am excited to be a part of designing and facilitating meetings that help people reach their goals.
