"The means is dialogue, the end is learning, the purpose is peace." ~ Founder Dr. Jane Vella
I have worked for the University of Vermont Child Welfare Training Partnership for 2 years. My primary role is to train the social work staff of the Vermont Department for Children and Families, Family Services Division in all aspects of child protection and youth justice work. I design, coordinate, deliver and evaluate formal trainings in classroom settings, as well as, provide in-service staff training and development for child welfare and interdisciplinary staff within the 12 district offices. Prior to this role, I worked in Chittenden County as a social worker for DCF and as a family support worker for Easter Seals. I also developed a Child Safety Home visiting program with the American Red Cross while working on my master’s degree in counseling at the University of Vermont. I maintain my Vermont State educator’s license in school counseling, and have been fortunate enough to work in Burlington schools with youth and their families over the years.
I have a real passion for engaging with families, community members and social work staff to keep children safe and ensure their well-being. I also have a great appreciation for time, my own and others’. The principles of the SURE-Fire meetings fit my own goal of both attending and facilitating an efficient, useful and engaging meeting. I am excited to continue to enable productive dialogue, and have positive, outcome oriented meetings with child welfare staff using the SURE-Fire standards.
