"The means is dialogue, the end is learning, the purpose is peace." ~ Founder Dr. Jane Vella
My driving passion is to help people do and be their best. To that end, I earned my Bachelor’s with a double Psychology/Sociology major, then promptly joined the Peace Corps and served for 2 years in Togo, West Africa. That experience motivated me to apply all that I’d learned about working with people to the most vulnerable in my own community. I earned a Master of Social Work degree from UVM, and began what was to become an 11-year career with Family Services as an investigator in the Barre District Office. During 9 of those 11 years, I was a supervisor, and found, again, that what I loved most, and excelled in, was coaching and mentoring and supporting the staff I supervised to do and be their best. This prompted me to join the UVM Child Welfare Training Partnership, where I am a training consultant working with staff both in the classroom and in their district offices.
Helping people do the very best with who they and their teams already are and what they already know is what being a SURE-Fire Go-To Practitioner is all about to me. Our time is so precious – let’s make sure that we use it well!
